Ballangen CenterBallangen is a mining municipality in the county of Nordland. It borders Narvik to the east and Tysfjord to the south, and has a short border with Sweden to the southeast. Ballangen is situated on the southern shore of Ofotfjorden. Ballangen also includes the long and narrow Efjord. Efjord is by many people said to be one of the most idyllic fjords in North Norway. Beautiful mountain formations and clear water with green sand banks gives you excellent surroundings for your fishing experience.


Ballangen has a lot to offer, with tourist activities centring around nature and history. Wonderful touring terrain for hikes in the forest and mountains, a lot of fishing possibilities in the sea, lakes and salmon rivers, exciting mining museum, farm shop, horsebackriding, boats for hire in Ballangen, Efjord and Kjeldebotn, marked hiking trails and lots of activities at Ballangen Camping.

During your stay in Ballangen you can experience other sights and attractions in the region. In Narvik you can visit the mountain lift, the war museum, the Ofoten railway, the magnificent golfcourse in Skjomen. We also recommend a trip to Stetind - Norway's national mountain in Tysfjord. You can visit Lofoten or take a days trip to Hamarøy.
